Pharmacy technician under investigation

A pharmacy technician is being investigated for the thefts of various controlled substances in the past year, according to the St. Joseph Police Department.

Officers arrested the 32-year-old woman Wednesday night at the Kmart Pharmacy, 3909 S. Belt Highway, said Cmdr. Jim Connors, police spokesman. The woman told officers she had ingested pills and was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center for treatment.

She was detained overnight at the Law Enforcement Center, but police released her Thursday afternoon. Criminal charges are pending, as the incident still is under investigation, Mr. Connors said.
