AmerisourceBergen acquires specialty pharmacy business
Pharmaceutical wholesaler AmerisourceBergen Corp.
said today it has acquired all the outstanding shares
of IgG of America Inc., a specialty pharmacy and infusion
services business, for $35 million in cash.
AmerisourceBergen, based in Valley Forge, is the
nation's third-largest drug distributor, and since
2001 has acquired 11 smaller companies.
The deal is expected to add slightly to AmerisourceBergen's
fiscal 2007 earnings, the company said.
AmerisourceBergen said the transaction includes a
contingent payment of up to $8.5 million based on
IgG achieving specific earnings targets in 2008. IgG
will become part of the AmerisourceBergen Specialty
Group.
Based in Linthicum, Md., IgG specializes in the blood
derivative IVIG, and had revenue of about $29 million
over the last 12 months. AmerisourceBergen has annual
revenue of nearly $60 billion.
AmerisourceBergen shares were up 5 cents, or 0.11
percent, to $47.25 in morning trading on the New York
Stock Exchange.
